One year on from the start of the pandemic.
Well not quite.
One year on from arriving into the offices of Known Publishing and meeting Ali and Leila.
I arrived expecting to discuss writing a book about balance and more specifically, a perfect imbalance.
4 and a 1/2 hours later and I had the new realisation that I was going to write a book about work. The working title we agreed upon was; This is work, yet it isn’t working!
As I look back over my 12 months here’s what has been resonating with me over the last few days;
- I had committed to a plan
- There was a structure for me to to follow
- We had agreed regular check ins with Leila (writing) & Ali (marketing)
Here’s how it went…
Writing, writing and more writing.
Sharing with others, doubting myself, going again, asking for feedback, accepting feedback, listening.
Tweaking and changing my mind, going back and forth, taking advice, getting excited, getting anxious, getting scared.
I experienced a whole range of emotions and thoughts throughout those first few months. I cried when I wrote chapter 3!
The first draft was submitted and it started to feel real. I was going to become a published author.
I shared my book with a trusted group of people who over the last few months have become friends for life. Their feedback, guidance, support and belief in me was (and still is) immense.
I couldn’t and didn’t do it on my own.
The happy ending
One year on;
I’m a published author (and best selling author) and have launched a ‘live learning‘ community where we come together to learn, share and support one another.
Today I launched the 6 Steps to achieving your vision of success programme.
Don’t be distracted by the life hack or short cut. Invest your time wisely and choose your support team with care. It may take 12 months or it may take longer. Who cares…it’s worth it.
