Have you started to dip?!

What even is the dip?

More to come…but first;

Who started the year with a real focus. Like me, did you have lots of energy and plenty of enthusiasm.

Perhaps you said to yourself this is the year where I’m going to make some big changes and achieve specific goals.

Perhaps you said to yourself this is the year when I’m going to focus on me and to make things happen.

2 months in and it’s a good time to reflect.

So what’s happening right now?

Have you hit a lull or is procrastination taking over?

Do you feel like giving up?

Perhaps you have already.

The great Vince Lombardi is quoted as saying;

Quitters never win and winners never quit

This can actually limit us, where I’m sure it was intended to empower us.

The fact is, it’s not true. Winners quit all the time.

Seth Godin talks about this is his book The Dip.

The Dip is;

  • the long slog between starting and mastering
  • the combination between process and focused work
  • a set of screens set up to keep people like you (and me) out

Ask yourself if you still want to make those big changes and achieve your specific goals.

Are you committed to continuing the pursuit of these.

If you are, what do you need to stop doing in order to focus solely on achieving these specific goals. It’s likely that you’re being distracted by other things, hence the dip.

Choose wisely.

Until next time thank you for reading.
