Following on from last weeks post on stuff I’ve chosen to write this week about sense.

The theme for this week came to me on a morning run.

To be fair, a lot of my creative ideas occur when I’m exercising.

I’m not talking about making sense, but our ability to see, smell, feel, taste and hear.

In part I’ve given up trying to make sense of life right now and resigned myself to just be!

Like me, I wonder if you’ve noticed a heightening of your senses during this time?

Awareness

On my morning run or afternoon walk (not on the same day of course), I’ve become more aware of the;

  • beautiful flowers in people’s gardens
  • sounds of different birds
  • smells coming from the locality I live in

I’ve also developed a greater awareness of taste and how different foods combine (or not).

My personal favourite definition of sense is;

a feeling that something is the case

I’m a ‘feelings type’ of person and for me, this captures the moment that we currently find ourselves in.

There are many things out of my control yet I try each day to accept them.

That doesn’t mean I’m not affected in any way, I’m just trying to just be.

Order and chaos

I respect that for others this time might be a struggle.

For those wanting structure or routine or just a template to work from, those answers aren’t as forthcoming.

The chaos is daily and trying to make sense of it can be hard.

As Kriss Akabusi shared during our conversation;

All creativity comes out of chaos

This has stuck with me for some time and helped me to understand moments of my life.

I know I like a certain amount of order, but I also like a bit of chaos.

A new adventure

Amongst this chaos I’ve chosen to be creative.

Sitting and playing with an idea since the back end of 2019, I’m recording a new series for the podcast.

The conversations will be around; attention, intention and distraction.

3 areas that are playing a part in all of our lives right now.

More details to follow, as they say in show business!

Perhaps allowing yourself a moment of creativity (during this chaos) will allow you to be distracted for a while or help you make sense of life.

Stay safe, big love x
