In the forthcoming episode of Perfect Imbalance I interview Aimee Bateman, Founder and CEO of Careercake.

Careercake is a company pioneering the way we learn; helping you to beat the challenges you’ll face in your career.

Aimee Bateman

I first spoke with Aimee earlier this year and was immediately struck by her energy and passion for helping others. It was no surprise to see recently that Aimee was awarded by Wales Online the Entrepreneur of the Year.

Where it all began

Following a decade as a leading recruiter (working with some of the largest recruitment companies in the UK), Aimee felt a deep desire to help passionate job seekers find and communicate their voice in a very competitive marketplace.

Somewhat disillusioned, she handed in her notice and bought a second-hand camera from eBay for £20 and started making YouTube videos in her lounge.

What I find refreshing about Aimee is that she is very open about the initial production quality and it not being the best. Her cat made an appearance in one, as did a microwaved lasagne. What she did was very obvious. She provided top quality careers advice, but her ‘why’ is what really captured people’s attention.

Clearly those early years (of production) has served Aimee and Careercake well.

Careercake

Careercake is providing video content that will help you take on, rise to and beat the challenges that you’ll face in your career.

They are working with businesses and in education, creating videos in a host of categories including; professional development, diversity & inclusion, health & well-being and career development.

On a personal level, I particularly like the fact that Careercake videos are delivered by leading industry experts.

Today, Careercake paid for content is now viewed in 49 countries and is licensed by businesses who wish to power their early year talent to develop and grow in confidence.
